Lago Vista Community Concerts Foundation
Lago Vista Community Concerts was originally formed to take advantage of the uniquely splendid musical acoustics of a property owned by musician and educator Arthur Gottschalk. Built around a three-story cylinder, half of which is heavy glass overlooking Lake Conroe, the space is perfect for the intimacy of chamber music in all its forms, and affords a stunning visual backdrop for the performers as well.
The first concert was held in the Fall of 2021, just as the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic began to wane, and featured the Axiom String Quartet. Later that year, arrangements were made to purchase a Yamaha Avant-Grande piano, from jazz legend Bob James, who composed a piece for it. This piano made its debut in January of 2021, featuring the Paul English Jazz Quartet, and included the work Bob wrote, for an enthusiastic audience.
Since then, Lago Vista Community Concerts has sponsored an average of 3 concerts per year, including singer-songwriters such as Joel Stein, concert pianists such as Scott Cuellar, The Fischer Duo, rock legends The Staehely Brothers, Mexican folk singer Ramon Torres, violin virtuoso Dominika Dancewicz, and many others.
Fall of 2024 featured internationally acclaimed jazz pianist Joe LoCascio, followed by the chamber works of Mexican classical composer Manuel Ponce in December.
All concerts are sell-outs, and attendance is on a first-come, first-served basis. Musicians are compensated by donations made by the audience at the concert, although many attendees have made generous contributions to the artists post-concert as well. We are proud to be able to serve the musician community of the Greater Houston area, as well as the general citizenry through our unique programming and acoustic environment.
OUR MISSION is to provide music, culture, and education to the Community of Greater Houston.
